Congratulations on your new puppy! This course is designed to help you and your puppy lay the foundation for future obedience, recognize what healthy play between dogs looks like, and begin the important work of socialization for long-term behavioral health. We'll also cover essential puppy-rearing tips and tricks to ensure your pup is set up for a lifetime of success. 

Our topics include:

• Attention to handler

• Dealing with distractions

• Beginner recall

• Sit & down

• Leash walking foundations

• Socialization

• Crate training 

• Potty training & more!

Please bring:

• 4-6 foot leash (no retractable leashes, please!)

• Martingale, flat collar, or harness (harness preferred)

• Treat pouch and high value treats (more than you think you’ll need)

• Mat or towel for puppy to lay on

• A full bag of small treats

Requirements:

• Dog must be 6 months of age or younger

• Dog must be current on vaccinations

• If your puppy displays reactivity or moderate to severe fear during classes, we will transition you to private lessons to better support your puppy’s learning and skill development. Please reach out to jen@blackdogbt.com with questions or concerns about your dog’s eligibility for class.

This semi-private class (3 dogs max) is designed for dogs over 6 months of age who are ready to polish their manners and build essential life skills. We’ll focus on reliable responses to everyday cues, leash skills, calm behaviors, and confidence in a variety of environments. Whether your dog is new to training or continuing to build on skills learned in puppyhood, this class strengthens the connection between you and your dog while giving you practical tools for real life.

Our topics include:

• Attention to handler

• Dealing with distractions

• Intermediate recall

• Sit, down, & stay

• Polite greetings

• Leash walking skills & drills

• Mat work & relaxation

Please bring:

• 4-6 foot leash (no retractable leashes, please!)
